The DayZ Ahead
(I Think I'll have the header twice)
So here I am. I arrived yesterday after a long flight. It was exhausting, I was not excited to leave. Whilst walking on the air way, Justin and my mom started banging on the window in order to take a picture and that set me off. I teared up and silently cried walking on to the plane. It was not a fun plane ride. I'm just happy I got here in one piece with all my stuff. There wasn't any issue with customs and such. I filled out the form and got in with all of my NARCOTICS. Just kidding. But on the other side of my first host family was waiting. Gui was standing out front with a big smile on his face. They greeted me with smiling faces(Side note: I landed in Saõ Paulo). We said hello and rather awkwardly walked to the car.
After driving for about 10 minutes including a stop to a gas station, We arrived at my host Grandmothers' house. She had cooked some delicious food. Gui showed me a little patio that had a captivating view of Saõ Paulo. We then drove for 2 hours to a farm in Limeira. As soon as I opened the car door, seven to ten small children rushed at me. They immediately started screaming in Portuguese at me. This was incredibly overwhelming. It makes me want to learn the language that much more. Blech, they were so freaking adorable I couldn't stand it. They were shouting and such child things. They all ran around like wild cute baboons. There was one girl that was incredibly crazy(but not in a bad way(A good way), not an "IM GOING TO THROW EVERYTHING AND SCREAM OBSCENITIES" way. After that, Gui and I started to walk around the farm. Upon said farm there was a plethora of chickens. I mean like 10 or so, but that doesn't matter anymore. After the chickens there was a horse, by golly it made me realize how big horses are. It could thrash me without even a fight. By this time it was getting late and semi-dark. The parents were participating in some sort or ceremony or religious service. I hadn't asked. Any whooooooo. We ate some more food, Chicken Stroganoff. Any way, after that Gui, Gaby, Gi and I went and sat on a swinging chair thing. All of the children gathered around and started to do things children do. 2 Girls were monkeying around on a jungle gym. In a weird sudden way the 2 girls started singing Adele-"Someone Like You" to me. It was the cutest thing. Halfway through I looked up at the sky (by this time, it was already dark) The moon was shining like I have never seen it before. It was incredible. After the 2 girls stopped singing I applauded enthusiastically. After that I conversed with a 12 year old boy about various thing, I played a little guitar. The only song I knew was Redemption song. So my guitar playing was kind of boring. The boy, on the other hand, knew Guns 'n' Roses, and Pink Floyd. It's pretty cool to see how American culture has traveled across the globe. So We sat around and I just listened the children and my host siblings converse. After that, We drove to my host families house. I put away my clothes and the rest was uneventful. I went and took a shower and then slept. That's about it. It felt like home.
Here are the pictures I took today
